This incredible instrumental groove comes from Sade’s “Stronger Than Pride” recording. Give it a listen and I’m sure you’ll agree that this fits in better with the genre of Jazz than of R & B. If ever there were a piece of music that was perfect for romantic tap choreography, this is it!
Check out this fun collection of tap dance music I just came across on Amazon.com! I haven’t heard all of this one, though I can say that “Sweet Georgia Brown” is a great song for tap dancers.
Check this one out for yourself and let me know what you think!
I recently expanded the Store creating a great one stop resource for all things relating to tap!
I hope you find it helpful! If you would like to recommend any additional tap dance product, please post it to the comments section below or email me at Taps [at] TapDanceMan [dot] com.
I know it’s been a while but hopefully this pick will make up for the absence. In discussing music choices with a Tap Dance Music Newsletter subscriber I remembered this great collection of music called the “Unwrapped” series.
These are extra special because they are Jazz remixes of popular Rap songs. If you like the groove of Rap, but don’t like some of the messages in the music, these CD’s may be perfect for you!
Here is the box set of the first 4 volumes!
This song is great for tap dancers because of its groove and it’s lyrics. I would love to see choreography set to this one. In fact, if you set a piece to this, share what you did with it in the comments section below.
It’s entitled “I Come Alive” & is included on Incognito’s most recent release.
The title of this post may not be completely accurate as this song by Jessy J may work for any season. I associate “Tequila Moon” with Summer because over the last few days WCLK, the jazz station here in Atlanta, has been playing this song quite regularly. Its Smooth jazz flavor feeds my creativity.
Art Blakey’s title track on Moanin’ is a wonderfully groovy experience for any tap dancer. Here is yet another piece that gives you a lot of room to express yourself. It’s perfect for tap dancing on a lazy Sunday evening.
Thanks to Jennifer for recommending this arrangement of “Summertime” by Oscar Peterson. If you are looking for a mellow song that’s open enough for lots of creative tap expressions…look no further!
Let’s start this week off with a little Charlie Parker. If you’re tired of dancing to the same old stuff, try keeping with Mr. Parker on “An Oscar For Treadwell”
While this song may be too “busy” for a live performance, it’s perfect for a practice or jam session!
